SHIPPING & DELIVERY

As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, we use a drop-shipping model to fulfill order and minimize ecommerce waste. What does this mean? Customer orders are shipped directly to the provided address from our warehouse within 48 hrs of successful payment. Estimated delivery dates based on the selected shipping method and the tracking number associated with the order will be emailed to the purchaser’s provided email address when the book(s) and/or other merchandise are shipped. We will do our best to provide the tracking information in your customer account area. We do not offer any in-store or in-person delivery or pick up at this time.

International Shipping Rates

International rates apply to deliveries to all non-U.S. addresses. Customers must indicate in the “notes” section of orders if they are shipping to a U.S. military address. Shipping to US military addresses uses US domestic shipping rates. 

Note: International packages are not trackable once inserted into the mail system. The customer will be notified by the local mail system for collection of any duties or taxes charged by the government. The consumer will be responsible for all customs duties and taxes.

If any book(s) and merchandise within your order are found to be temporarily out of stock you will be notified via email which product(s) have been placed on back order. Books that are placed on back order will be shipped within 48 hours of  becoming available at our warehouse; at which time you will receive an email informing you that your order has been shipped. If any book(s) and merchandise within your order are marked as pre-orders the product(s) will be shipped within 48 hours of  becoming available at our warehouse; at which time you will receive an email informing you that your order has been shipped. 

SHIPPING NOTES

It is most important for customers to use the notes section to specify order customization. Customization may include but is not limited to:

  • Requesting gift wrapping for one, more, or all products in the order
  • Requesting a special note (no more than 255 characters) be included with a gift order
  • Specifying the name or “ATTN” on the shipping label
  • Sharing some praise or love.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Large Shipments

In some cases, due to the size of an order (books that are extremely heavy or multi-volume sets, for example), customers may be contacted after an order has been placed regarding additional shipping costs; in which case regular shipping costs do not apply and shipping rates will be based on weight.

Multiple Shipments

All items of the same category ship within the same package. A customer’s book(s) will ship with other books. Merchandise (apparel, stationary, and other items) will ship with other merchandise. Digital purchases such as audiobooks from Libro.fm or ebooks from Kobo will be delivered electronically to the customer as they are purchased. Please note: Any in-person purchases are not subject to these restrictions although we will do our best to pack like items together for convenience. 

Delayed Shipments

If a customer’s order has not been delivered by USPS within the stated time frame after the customer receives email confirmation that product(s) have shipped or if the order has not been delivered and the customer’s USPS tracking number indicates that your product(s) was delivered, all customers must first contact USPS & file a claim. Kindly give USPS 10 days to locate the product(s) before emailing info@rrbbookstore.com. Before making contact, be sure to have the original order number, the USPS claim information, and any other evidence of tracking the delivery with USPS. We will do our best to advocate for you and investigate the issue by using this information. This process applies to all of our customers regardless of residence.


RETURNS & REPLACEMENTS

We love you, fam. Our goal at Red Rice & Beans Diaspora Bookstore is to ensure that you feel taken care of so that every time you pull up a seat to our communal table, you feel at home. Therefore, we have cooked up the following return policy to satisfy your hunger for fresh literature and nourishing goods and to keep you protected. Please refer to the information below for details on how to return your product(s). Sale Terms

All sales are final and any items will be returned for store credit only. We encourage you to think wisely before purchasing.  Due to the ongoing SARS COVID-19 pandemic, we are not accepting any returns at this time.

You may initiate a return for one or more of the following reasons:

  • Incorrect quantity
  • Defective product(s) or product(s) damaged in transit
  • Incorrect merchandise

Time Limit

Red Rice & Beans Diaspora Bookstore must receive notification of your intent to return a product within 3 days of you receiving your product(s). The product(s) must then be returned via mail to the Red Rice & Beans Diaspora Bookstore address within 10 days of receiving your return number. We will make exceptions for our international and US military customers with non-US addresses. We provide an additional 3 day grace period (13 days total) for all of our customers.

Condition

All books returned for a refund must be in saleable condition, exhibiting no wear unless the condition is the cause of the return. We retain the right to refuse a refund to any item that exhibits wear or has been returned after the 13 day grace period. Final decisions will be communicated via email. Due to the ongoing SARS COVID-19 pandemic, we are not accepting any returns at this time.

Shipping Responsibility

Purchases that are accepted for a refund will only be credited the purchase price of the book. Shipping & handling fees and optional fees such as gift wrapping charged at time of order are non-refundable.

Which credit cards does RRB accept?

Red Rice & Beans Diaspora Bookstore accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards (ApplePay, GooglePay, Microsoft Pay, Click to Pay, and PayPal when available). The billing address that you provide must match the address that appears on your [credit] card statements. Customers may see a pending charge at the time a purchase for books and other items is made; however, the card will not be charged until your order is complete and ready to be shipped.

Which gift cards does RRB accept?

We only accept store-branded gift cards. Gift Cards will be available in due time.

What if my gift card does not cover the cost of my order?

You may split payment with a gift card and another method of payment when gift cards become available.

When will I be charged?

We require 48-72 hours (2-3 days) processing time from the time you place your order before it can be invoiced and shipped from our warehouse. You will receive an automated shipping confirmation email once your order has shipped. Your [credit] card will be charged after the order is complete, just prior to shipping although you may see a pending charge from our bookstore prior to receiving a shipping confirmation. Remember, delivery expectations take effect after your order has shipped, not from the time of purchase.
